Firstly,
we would like to say an official thank you to the previous board and
the chair, Dorte Rønsler for all their hard work over the years.
The new board has not yet been able to meet together in person but is
communicating by e-mail. We have planned to meet in November in Brussels
at the same time as the PARE Manifesto meeting so we can introduce ourselves
to some of the supporters of IOYR. Please get in touch with us directly
if you have an idea or question you would like to discuss.
To keep you informed for the moment here are our immediate plans. You
will receive at the beginning of October a mail by post and e-mail to
your organisation. This mail will contain:
-
The
new newsletter - given out at IYC 2004 and
for download here
-
The
next newsletter
-
The
new constitution. We will require some feedback on this within 3
months of you receiving this, as we agreed with members at the General
Assembly.
-
The
minutes of the General Assembly.
-
The
notes from the working groups at the General Assembly.
-
An outline
of the proposed work of the board for the next year
The
General Assembly (GA) of IOYR took place at the International Youth
Congress (IYC) in Switzerland in July. The GA happens every three years
and is the time for members to meet together and plan the work of IOYR
and elect its board. The Swiss Rheumaliga hosted the IYC held at the
beautiful Gwatt Centrum conference centre. They spent the past few years
working extremely hard, raising money and planning an excellent programme.
This included speakers from medical and complementary professionals
as well as personal development sessions. You’ll be able to read more
about the IYC soon in the next newsletter.
At the GA the new board was elected and there were working groups to
help us plan the next three years. Even if you were not there at the
IYC we hope you have some great ideas for the new board. It always nice
to know that people would like to support our work and we look forward
to involving you. Please get in touch with us if you can.
Remember – IOYR is the members. We need you to give ideas, assist with
work and help plan for the future. The board is there to help people
communicate together. One of the ways we do this is by our newsletter
so please take the time if you can to write an article about you or
your organisation. Don’t worry if you think your English is not good
enough, we can edit your text. Also if you cannot write in English,
send us text in your own language and we can get it translated. We look
forward to hearing from you!
With many best wishes from the IOYR board.
